Baby Got Back ~~
So, some of you may know how I feel about American Apparel ads. Basically, I always get the impression that the girls in these ads are being exploited somehow. Oh, I don't know, I guess I kind of get a "I had sex with the photographer for this job - I'm one of the A.A groupies.'-vibe.

As I was perusing craigslist (ostensibly looking for a job) I found this posting:

"AMERICAN APPAREL FEMALE MODEL NEEDED

Do people think of you whenever Baby Got Back plays on the radio? Do you turn heads with your bubble butt? If so, we need you. American Apparel is looking for a female to model shorts, panties and other bottoms.

This is a paying job and all images would be shot in our photo studio at our downtown LA factory. Please click the link for an example of what we are looking for. If you are interested, please respond to this post with photos (of your butt, this isn’t about your pretty face) and contact information.

Yes, that link is included in the posting. I think they're using this "4318.html" as an example of what kind of butt they want. Rather a nice example of butt - don't you think?

Oh and I especially like the part that says, "...to model shorts, panties and other bottoms." That's right, folks:
OTHER BOTTOMS. Say it slowly in your head. Like this, "Uh'thurr Bott'Tuhhmmz". Someone else will find that as amusing as I do, I hope.

Well, this doesn't (necessarily) mean the American Apparel girls aren't being exploited. Or maybe they should stop having huge billboards and signs that have these weird photographs of girls that feel grungy, private, dare i say exploitive ~ I'm not the only one who feels that way right? Maybe I need to embrace the fact that they're trying to be 'edgy' or 'risque' or whatever term you want to use.
